Meet Tim: Goodwill Team Lead

Tim applied to work at Goodwill because he wanted to try something new after only working in fast food previously. At Goodwill, he didn’t just find a job he liked — he also found an environment that was safe and allowed him to express himself.

“I felt like I didn’t really have to be afraid to [show] my personality, because it’s such a diverse environment,” Tim said. “Everyone’s here, and everyone’s different.”

For Tim, a typical day includes organizing, pricing and maintaining the store, but his favorite part of the job is building community and connections through his interactions with customers, “even if it’s just a quick five seconds at the register.” Tim is also passionate about sustainability and appreciates that Goodwill recycles many of the items that are not in sellable condition, diverting millions of pounds from the landfill annually.

“I love things that are good for the earth, good for the people,” he said.
