Have a Mindful Move-Out with Lincoln Goodwill
By Alia Hurst
The countdown to summer vacation begins! To avoid traveling home with a heavy load, many college students opt to throw away the electronics, books, furniture and clothing they no longer need. In fact, Planet Aid reports that the average college student produces 640 pounds of waste annually, much of which accumulates at the end of the school year.
Fortunately, Goodwill is here to break this cycle and create a smooth and sustainable transition from dorm life to summer nights with our annual campus move-out drive.
Drop off your gently used items in the Goodwill donation bins in your residence hall’s lobby on the following dates:
Wesleyan: April 26-May 8
UNL (clothing only): May 8-May 22
A simple modification to your campus move-out routine lightens your load while also helping the community. Revenue generated from the sales of your donations fund various local employment services like Lincoln Literacy and the Community Justice Center. Additionally, your participation helps the environment. Thanks to donors like you, Goodwill diverts over 2 million pounds from the local landfill every year.
