Goodwill to Renovate Downtown Lincoln Location, Expand Job Connection Center

LINCOLN – Goodwill Industries Serving Southeast Nebraska, Inc. announced plans to renovate and repurpose its downtown Lincoln location. This project will involve expanding Goodwill’s Job Connection Center, which currently occupies a portion of the location, and adding new partnerships and services to the remaining space.

Job Connection, which is fully funded by the sales from Goodwill’s thrift stores, exists to help individuals overcome traditional barriers to employment and find meaningful work in the community. Goodwill’s Employment Specialists provide free, personalized assistance with a variety of services, including resume creation, online applications, computer skills development and more.

In recent years, use of Goodwill’s employment services has rapidly grown, as the agency nearly quadrupled its Job Connection client base from 2023 to 2024. The downtown renovations will allow Goodwill to continue providing high-quality, personalized assistance to the increasing number of clients seeking its services.

“Employment services are in high demand in the Lincoln community,” said Aubry Hoegemeyer, Employment Services Director at Goodwill. “Our clients appreciate the personalized assistance they receive at Job Connection, and there are many days when every computer station is full. We are excited to be able to offer more opportunities and resources for Lincoln’s job seekers, and we will work to make sure the upcoming renovations happen with the least possible disruption to our clients.”
