Goodwill Announces 13th Annual Neighborhood Challenge Winners
Lincoln Goodwill celebrated another exciting Neighborhood Challenge season. This year, 10,200 pounds of donated goods were collected from seven different neighborhood associations!
Every year, Goodwill’s Neighborhood Challenge gives Lincoln neighborhood associations the opportunity to donate their gently used items after garage sales or clean-up events. The top associations that donate over 2,000 pounds win a cash prize to help fund a neighborhood-improvement project of their choice. Goodwill would like to thank the Eastridge, ECCO, Highlands, Pine Lake, Southwood, Wellington Greens, and Witherbee neighborhood associations for their participation in this year’s Neighborhood Challenge.
This year’s first-place winner was the Highlands Neighborhood Association with 3,281 pounds of donations collected. Southwood Neighborhood Association donated 2,883 pounds of goods and earned second place.
The annual Neighborhood Challenge is just one way Lincoln Goodwill strives to fulfill its mission: “Willing workers employed and community resources maximized.” Goodwill uses the sale of donated items to help local job seekers overcome barriers to employment and find meaningful work. In 2024, Lincoln Goodwill provided career services to over 5,750 individuals in Southeast Nebraska.
