Giving, Collaborating and Celebrating this Giving Tuesday

Giving, Collaborating and Celebrating this Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving that encourages people to do good. In nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people year-round. This year, Giving Tuesday takes place on November 30, 2021, and kicks off the giving season.

For 89 years, Goodwill Industries Serving Southeast Nebraska has been strengthening the Lincoln community by providing services for individuals who face barriers to employment. Through the power of work, Goodwill strives to give individuals the tools and information to become successful. Additionally, Goodwill provides annual funding to the following community partners: Big Brothers Big Sisters Lincoln, YWCA, The Community Justice Center, and Lincoln Literacy.

“At Goodwill, we live our mission every day by strengthening our communities and helping people achieve their full potential through learning and employment services,” said Anne-Marie Maher, Communications Director at Goodwill. “Never has this movement been more critical than today. We’re pleased to do our part and participate in this global effort to create local impact.”

In 2020, at least $2.47 billion was donated in 24 hours in the U.S. alone, with 13% of the adult population participating by offering gifts of time, skills and money, as well as countless acts of kindness inspired by the movement.

When you shop at Goodwill, the revenue is used toward creating employment and job training opportunities in the Lincoln community. Last year alone, Goodwill shoppers 2,803 individuals gain access to employment services. It is easy to make a tax-deductible financial gift to Goodwill on Giving Tuesday by visiting https://lincolngoodwill.org/donate/monetary-donations/.
