Frequently Asked Questions

We are only able to schedule free home pick ups for large furniture items at this time. The only exception to this rule is if you have a large quantity of smaller donations. A large quantity is 7 or more large bags or boxes of donations that cannot fit into a passenger vehicle. If you do not have a large quantity of items, please drop them off at any of our donation centers.

We offer pick ups Monday-Friday. For more information or to schedule your pick up Click Here. Unfortunately, we are unable to schedule same day pickups.

We do not schedule appointments for a specific time of day, pick ups are made between approximately 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. We can give you an approximate 30 minute phone call before arrival.  In the case of inclement weather, we ask that you call and reschedule your appointment. Items that are damaged by the weather will not be accepted.

Goodwill is unable to enter homes and apartments for liability reasons. We suggest that you have a friend, relative or neighbor assist you with moving the items outside to your driveway, front porch, or garage so that we may pick them up. If the home or apartment is being vacated or you are the landlord of a property that has been vacated, please contact donations scheduling at (402) 438-2022 for additional information about scheduling a pick up.

If you unintentionally donated an item to one of our retail stores, you may contact the retail store by calling or stopping by to see if you can locate the item. If the item is found, you may purchase it back for the listed price if it is still available in the store.  If you unintentionally donated an item to our warehouse donation center, we will not be able to locate the item for you as we do not keep an inventory of donations and these items are shipped to any one of our six retail stores in Lincoln and York. If you unintentionally donated an item during a free home pickup that you scheduled, please contact our main office no later than ONE DAY after the pickup and we will try to locate where the item was sent. Please note that we cannot guarantee that you or a Goodwill employee will be able to locate an item that was accidentally donated. If the item is found, you may purchase it back for the listed price.

Donations are not free. Employees have to be paid to sort through the saleable and non-saleable items, and even though we recycle as much as possible, Goodwill still spends over $50,000 a year in refuse costs for donated items that were non-saleable.

Donations collected through the  Round Up program helps support grants Goodwill provides to other local non-profits as well as services Goodwill provides. Click Here to learn more.
